I'm Back!!!!!

So it has been entirely too long since I sat down and blogged. I will try to make it a habit to post here at least monthly.

So I started this journey several years ago. Things have gone on. Life has happened. And I have stopped and started back up on my fitness journey. I will just pick up where I am now. So this past August I finally took the plunge and joined the gym. The boys and I have a membership to our local Star Athletic Club. I started out just taking some group fitness classes. I have now enjoyed Piyo, Turbo-kick (kickboxing with aerobics), Cardio Core Fit (mix of circuits and cardio), Tabata (circuits), Pole Fitness 101, Yoga with 3 different instructors who all have their own wonderful spin, country Heat, and Cize. Then I added to that crazy mix boot camp. Never fear I do not do all of these classes every week, but someday I may :) I took part in my first boot camp in January and then took a 2 month break from boot camp and concentrated on the classes. Then March rolled around and I had an evening nurse aide class and found it difficult to fit in my classes. So roll in a 5:15 AM boot camp. Yep you read that right, I report to the gym at 5:15 AM 3 days a week! What?! Honestly i love it! I truly love it! It is hard to roll out of my nice warm, or cool bed, but I get there and start working out and those fabulous endorphins release. I really do feel that the reason I am more successful at this time is because A) I am not quite awake and B) I get to spend the rest of the day working off the soreness that made it difficult at times to drag my butt back to the gym.

So here I sit. I am heavier then when I started my journey, yet I am also 2-years+ post total abdominal hysterectomy. I did very well with my surgery, in fact I went back to work a week later. Then fast forward to now when i knew I needed to do something. More then for my physical health I needed it for my emotional health. To say it has been rocky at times since my surgery is putting it mildly. It is still on my to-do list to go to the doctor to get my hormone levels checked. I had been experiencing mood swings and night sweats along with hot flashes for a few years before surgery but the moods are definitely worse now. Then I discovered the gym. I always thought people who said working out helped their mood were high on something. I thought they had been snorting their diet drink powder or were being paid to recruit members to their cult. Now I can happily say I am one of their members. I honestly feel 100% better after my gym sessions. yes I often leave exhausted, sweaty, and wondering why do I do this. But then I get through my day and I am in a much better place. In fact when I skip a gym session or just am not sure it is worth it the Mr. will gently suggest, "honey do you want to to go the gym?" Thankfully it has been months since he has said that since I am now in round 2 of my boot camp revamp. Yep you read that right round 2 of the 5:15 AM boot camp. I am even looking forward to signing up for my June session of boot camp at 5:15 AM. Dang, looking at that in writing is odd. But it is so worth it! Well if I get my measurements I will share them proudly on here, once I get my start and finish results. My next feat will be addressing my nutrition. Yep I am fully aware that I need to eat better to feel better and it will help my journey to health. But baby steps. For now making it to the gym 3 days a week and giving it my all even on the days I want to give up is a huge accomplishment. Oh wait I take that back, my next step is to add in some more classes. Back on my agenda is Wednesday Sunrise Yoga which is right after boot camp and to slide into step aerobics. Why step aerobics? Because I need the cardio! And hopefully resuming my Tuesday and Thursday Sunrise Shred classes at 5:45 for 45 minutes of arms on Tuesday and legs on Thursday. yep I am one of those annoying gym people! Stay tuned for more adventures in my quest!
