Time to share some photo progress. I still see things that need improvement--ok lots of them. But I also do see the progress I am making. So here is a picture from January, when i did my very first boot camp: And now from June: The best part is that others outside my family are noticing changes for the positive. But really, truthfully beyond the physical aspects is the changes internally. I am still having days and moments where the joy is robbed from me for so many reasons, but I am feeling like those times are happening less and less. I am having less times when I am uncomfortable in my own skin. Less times when I am uncomfortable in a crowd and among those who love me, the real me. I am a work in progress still, a whole big mess, but a work in progress. Now to continue on my path to self recovery and to find the real me inside and let her out more and trust in others. Amazing how one journey to fitness has helped me discover the missing pieces in my life emotionally!

Drum roll-new measurements to report!

Here are my results for May. Now I did gain 0.8 pounds according the scale at the gym, but I am losing inches overall which is much, much, much more important. Working hard on the lower belly area and I can tell and so can others that I am toning up the midsection. Now to keep doing the workouts for the lower ab--have I mentioned I am not a fan of those? Now to just keep up my progress! Woo hoo! *Weigh In: 5/1/17* Weight: 235.4 BF%: 51.2 Bust: 46.75 Waist: 45.5 Hips: 53.25 Arms L: 14/R: 14.5 Thighs L: 26/R:26.5 *Weight Out: 5/24/17* Weight: 236.2 BF%: 52.4 Bust: 45.25 Waist: 46.25 Hips: 52.25 Arms L: 14/R: 14 Thighs L: 26.5/R: 26.5 *Results* Weight: +.8 BF%: +1.2% Bust: -1.5" Waist: +.75" Hips: -1" Arms L: Same/R: -.5" Thighs L: +.5"/R: Same Total Inches Gained: 1.25" Total Inches Lost: 3"

I'm Back!!!!!

So it has been entirely too long since I sat down and blogged. I will try to make it a habit to post here at least monthly. So I started this journey several years ago. Things have gone on. Life has happened. And I have stopped and started back up on my fitness journey. I will just pick up where I am now. So this past August I finally took the plunge and joined the gym. The boys and I have a membership to our local Star Athletic Club. I started out just taking some group fitness classes. I have now enjoyed Piyo, Turbo-kick (kickboxing with aerobics), Cardio Core Fit (mix of circuits and cardio), Tabata (circuits), Pole Fitness 101, Yoga with 3 different instructors who all have their own wonderful spin, country Heat, and Cize. Then I added to that crazy mix boot camp. Never fear I do not do all of these classes every week, but someday I may :) I took part in my first boot camp in January and then took a 2 month break from boot camp and concentrated on the classes. Then March rolled a...

Hazards of working out at home.....

Ok, so some of the hazards include deciding you do not feel up to it, but heck it is even worse if you have to leave the house to get to a workout. Family, for some reason my boys (the big and little) decide they need my attention during a workout or decide to practice their music. Ok again something I can work around and now I kind of like it. Last night I had guitar practice going on and my hubby playing with the electronic drums too. The furry ones. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats in our house. Where do they like to be, wherever mom is at which includes at my feet. Step on them enough or annoy them with all the shaking and sweating and noise from the belly scarf and they learn to ignore you or go to another room. Also step on them enough and they move really quick! Hyper or over extension of muscles--ouch! I did this last night, I hyper-adducted (not sure if this is a real term  or not). Essentially I swung my left leg to far inward and felt a pop in my hip and soreness deep in ...

Working out at home is not for the faint of heart!

So I have been working out at home since mid-December. I first stared on the Treadclimber, then moved to Zumba on the Wii. I have my good days and bad days. I have several days or weeks in a row where I exercise everyday and days where I skip or a few days where I skip but overall I feel I am doing pretty well. If I remember right it takes 21 days to create a habit, so I have surpassed that mark, but it does take consistency. For myself it is hard to get my butt in the car, at night, as all the exercise classes around here that I can take are in the evening, to a class after working so I do my exercise at home. I can get it in anywhere from 5:30 PM onward as supper is usually at 5 PM in this household. I have an 8-year-old son and a 35-year-old husband to keep me company while I exercise. Sometimes said 8-year-old joins in, sometimes he just cheers me on. Said husband will sometimes comment "good job honey" or other nice comments. He walks on the Treadclimber almost every nig...

Frustration

A word of advice to my lady friends: Never discuss weight loss or lack of weight loss with your husband. They just are not made the same and they do not view the scale in quite the same way as we do! Now I love my husband, he balances me out, he lifts me up when I am down, he puts up with me when I am cranky. Do not get me wrong, I adore this man, but sometimes he is so matter-of-fact and sensible that it angers me! So many of you are already aware of this, but some may not know, I have PCOS which has caused or is exacerbated by insulin resistance. This is the reason we turned to adoption to have a child, my body is not compatible with pregnancy and after a few tries we took a break then found the boy who melted my heart with his little gaze and now calls me "mother" or "mama" depending on his mood :) So back to my point, with insulin resistance it is easy to gain weight around the belly, in my case a lot of weight. Some of my friends on here also have PCOS and insu...
