Hazards of working out at home.....

Ok, so some of the hazards include deciding you do not feel up to it, but heck it is even worse if you have to leave the house to get to a workout.

Family, for some reason my boys (the big and little) decide they need my attention during a workout or decide to practice their music. Ok again something I can work around and now I kind of like it. Last night I had guitar practice going on and my hubby playing with the electronic drums too.

The furry ones. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats in our house. Where do they like to be, wherever mom is at which includes at my feet. Step on them enough or annoy them with all the shaking and sweating and noise from the belly scarf and they learn to ignore you or go to another room. Also step on them enough and they move really quick!

Hyper or over extension of muscles--ouch! I did this last night, I hyper-adducted (not sure if this is a real term  or not). Essentially I swung my left leg to far inward and felt a pop in my hip and soreness deep in the muscle that is still present today. I did continue my workout, just slowed down a bit while the initial sting went away. Hip dysplasia runs in both my dad's and mom's family so I was checked for hip dysplasia at birth. I did not have it but do have some loosey goosey hip sockets at times. I must remember this when forcefully kicking to the side or the center of my body! I have also done some odd stretches in the belly area, not hard to do when you are working on a muffin top but you must not over stretch or it really stings! Also jumping around when big chested can be a bit tricky too :)

However, when looking at all my hazards I still love working out at home! Last night I got home from work, mixed up some cinnamon rolls to bring to my AM students as a thank you as our whole week was altered due to a coworker being out-of-the office due to her father's death, so my partner instructor and I have combined our classes all week long. Then it was time for supper. I finally got my groove going around 7 PM, then had to prepare said cinnamon rolls but I felt energized after my workout, despite my stinging muscles in hip and belly. So, as long as I am able to shake my booty in the comfort of my home with the dogs, cats, and hubby cheering me on and the baby sometimes joining in I will continue to do so! So what are you waiting for, get out there and find your own groove!
